CenterRun Need: CenterRun, a software company
that automates the configuration and deployment of web
applications, came to Winzo Group while still in “stealth-mode”
to provide support and lay the foundation for the launch
of their application. Winzo Group worked with executives to
finalize messaging and positioning prior to launch. To
validate the positioning, Winzo Group performed an
informal perception audit to confirm the story resonated
with CenterRun’s target audience of analysts and
press.
Results: Winzo Group created copy for a
sophisticated media kit for CenterRun and coordinated a
successful analyst tour, ensuring CenterRun was
well-received by virtually all of the major technology
and market research firms. CenterRun’s application was
formally introduced at BEA eWorld 2002 to great
excitement; the product was covered by CIO, InfoWorld,
San Francisco Business Times, the451, Tier 1 Research
and The Web Host Industry Review without a formal
product launch. Since then, CenterRun, established as a leader in the consolidating data center
management market, was acquired by Sun Microsystems for
$66 million cash in August of 2003.
